on body proportions and scary walks home

I want a nice riding boot for the mean streets of San Francisco. I need something durable with enough weight to give a swift and gnarly kick if it came down to it. It's not so that I could look East Coast, really. Due to my short legs and uneven calf size, I think it will forever be a dream.
